Palestinian doctor “I will never hate”
In 2009 a Palestinian doctor lost three of his eight children when shells fell on his home in Gaza during an Israeli offensive against Hamas. Since October 7th he has lost a further 22 family members.
In an interview with Zeinab Badawi for the 91ȱ HARDtalk programme the peace advocate and author of the critically acclaimed book ‘I Shall Not Hate” explains how he feels with surviving family still in danger. “I feel angry about what is happening. I am in pain, heartbroken. I don't want even to touch my cell phone to hear some bad news.”
But, he says, “I will never hate. Hate brakes me down, makes me weak.” He added “Hatred is a contagious destructive disease.”
He called on the international community to help the Palestinians in Gaza saying: “We are not seeking to take us to the moon. We are seeking our freedom to be equal to others.”
