Rubiales kiss: Spanish FA president to resign
Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales has resigned from his position. It follows weeks of criticism for his actions at the Women's World Cup final where he kissed Spain forward Jenni Hermoso on the lips as she collected her medal. He claimed the kiss was consensual but last week she filed a legal complaint.
Spanish football journalist, Semra Hunter, said that this complaint and talks Rubiales had had with his father and daughters led him to make the decision. He revealed in an interview on the Piers Morgan television show that his family wanted him ''to maintain his dignity and not do further damage that had already been caused.'' She said ''the writing was on the wall'' and ''Spain and Spanish society had forced him out.''
