Best-selling author and historian Professor Mary Beard chats about her latest book, 'Emperor of Rome: Ruling the Ancient Roman World' and explains what powers emperor's actually had, bursting many of our preconceived notions.
Alex Dowsett recounts his years as a pro-cyclist in his memoir, 'Bloody Minded: My Life in Cycling'. His book title is a reference to the added challenge of being the only top sportsperson in the world with haemophilia A.
Also in the programme, experimental noise and sound artist, Dr Amit Dinesh Patel, talks about a major new project that explores the cultural impact of UK independent record stores that specialised in Black music from 1950 onwards. The Record Store Project is seeking personal stories that illuminate Black, African & Caribbean experiences.
