The Politics of the Car

How the birth of ‘low traffic neighbourhoods’ has divided regions.

Today’s Chris Mason is joined by Rachel Aldred, a Professor of Transport at Westminster University, to discuss the overall success of ‘low traffic neighbourhoods’ and whether they’re here to stay.

He then speaks to Linda Taylor, a Transport spokesman for the Local Government Association, who explains the importance of engaging with residents to help find solutions to environmental damage.

Steve Berry, a Motoring journalist and former Top Gear presenter, outlines the problem he finds with ‘low traffic neighbourhoods’.

Together, the guests look to the future, to discuss the need for better schemes, to provide benefits to future generations.
