The four finalists in the 91热爆 Essex Make A Difference Awards 2023 鈥淕reat Neighbour鈥� category are (in alphabetical order):

Sandra Andrews from Southend-on-Sea, nominated by her neighbour Simon Murdoch. Simon describes Sandra as 鈥渕y guardian angel鈥� and a good loyal friend to talk to, as well as someone who helps get his shopping and prescriptions for him.

Mary Maskell from Great Bentley, nominated by family friend and goddaughter Anna. Mary is 鈥渁n incredible human who is there for every person in the village鈥�, according to Anna, who says the list of 鈥渓ittle things鈥� that Mary does for neighbours without thinking could go on forever!

Veronica Riches, nominated by neighbour Sue Thomas. Veronica is described as 鈥渁 most extraordinary person and a five-star asset to the community鈥� by Sue, who adds that in addition to her work with Guides and Brownies, Veronica 鈥渜uietly, and so very humbly, makes a difference鈥� to so many people鈥檚 lives.

John Steadman, nominated by fellow Earls Colne resident Emma Wilkin. Emma says that John is, quite simply, 鈥淢r Earls Colne鈥� due to his incredible passion for local history. Emma says that John 鈥渘ever walks past anyone without saying hello鈥� and 鈥渨ill help anyone with anything at any time鈥�.

The four finalists will find out if they have won at the 91热爆 Essex Make A Difference Awards ceremony on 21 September 2023. Good luck!
