95-Year-Old-Artist Brings 1930s Glasgow to Life

Thomas McGoran paints Glasgow scenes from the 1930s from memory. Having gained attention for an exhibition in the Forge shopping centre, he is now exhibiting in central Glasgow.

Ninety-five-year-old artist Thomas McGoran paints street scenes of Glasgow in the 1930s from memory. He gained press attention in February after the success of his exhibition at the Forge shopping centre near his home in Dennistoun. On the eve of exhibiting his art in Glasgow city centre at SoGo Arts Gallery, we go behind the scenes and film him painting at home, where Thomas tells us about his incredible life and what motivates him to paint – and shares with us his evocative work.
