Escaping Sudan: Fleeing fierce fighting in Khartoum for Tyneside
A woman now living on Tyneside has been describing fleeing the war in Sudan. Innocent civilians have been caught up since fierce fighting broke out in the capital, Khartoum, in April. Elizabeth Boughey, who's now staying in Backworth, had been living in Sudan while teaching at an international school. You'll hear her describe her apartment block being shelled; her car journey with a white T-shirt held outside after her building was evacuated; and her take on why the country's two leaders have effectively gone to war.
