Why did members of the African and Caribbean community settle in Basingstoke?

On the 22nd of June this year, it will be 75 years since the Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks. On board were eight hundred people from all over the Caribbean, who were invited to help rebuild the nation after the Second World War. Bridgitte delves into a bit of local history and finds out why members of the African and Caribbean community settled in Basingstoke?
