'My surgery keeps being put back and it's affecting my life'

Data analysed by the 91热爆 suggests that, in February, nearly 14,000 people were waiting more than a year for NHS treatment in Leicester.

The government wants around 92 per cent of patients to start treatment within 18 weeks - in Leicestershire, fewer than half of patients were beginning their treatment within that time.

Chief operating officer at Leicester鈥檚 Hospitals, Jon Melbourne said: 'To ensure that emergency and elective patients get the care they need, we have continued to prioritise the most clinically urgent patients but have made significant inroads in the last year to tackle wait times across our Trust.'

17 year old Alex Patino-Pocuca from Clarendon Park wants to study sports science at university but has been waiting for knee surgery for two years after snapping her knee ligaments.

She explains to Ady Dayman how the wait is affecting her future plans.
