‘I can’t understand how we escaped’
A mother describes the walls of her children’s bedroom collapsing and their escape
The earthquake is bringing stories of terrible tragedy but also survival. The Today programme heard Nesli Akarsu, who lived in the worst hit Turkish province, tell her UK-based brother-in-law Cengiz Akarsu how her family escaped.
In an emotional interview with Today’s Nick Robinson, she describes receiving messages from friends and students at her school telling her they too have survived.
