Fifteen children have died after contracting Strep A in the last three months, a higher number than is normal at this time of year. Normally, mild strep A infections cause symptoms like a sore throat or skin infections. GPs have been told to use a lower threshold now when prescribing antibiotics.
Justin Webb spoke to Dawn Burns, grandmother of Camila Burns, who has been in intensive care with Strep A, alongside Professor Sir Andrew Pollard and Dr Kamila Hawthorne, who spent some time answering your questions.
