Situation at Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant ‘precarious’
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has spoken to the 91ȱ about his concerns for the safety of Europe’s biggest nuclear power plant.
Rafael Grossi told the 91ȱ Hardtalk programme’s Stephen Sackur that the situation at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia site was “very precarious”.
The nuclear plant has been under Russian occupation since early March, although Ukrainian technicians still operate it and IAEA inspectors maintain a presence.
Mr Grossi said that continued shelling and cuts to the plant’s external power supply meant the situation remained “very fragile indeed”.
