India 'very excited' as Rishi Sunak becomes UK prime minister
Rishi Sunak's rise to the biggest job in British politics is being met with major excitement in India.
Sunak, whose parents moved to the UK from east Africa and are both of Indian origin, becomes the new UK prime minister after a short leadership race following the resignation of Liz Truss.
The news is one of the top stories across Indian media.
Mallika Soni, of The Hindustan Times, thinks his appointment could help improve India-UK relations. She says it is "a very big deal" and that it has "brought a lot of Diwali cheer" to the country.
