Ukraine says more than 1,000 bodies found in recaptured city

Ukraine's president, Vlodomyr Zelensky, visited the city of Izyum, located in eastern Ukraine on the Donets River in Kharkiv Oblast.

Ukrainian troops recently recaptured this city, which had been a key logistics hub for Russian forces.

He joined Newsday to discuss what it was like there, saying: "We were lucky to speak to inhabitants of Izyum, and speak to these people. Also, we were shocked to see the destruction of the city, and we have already found 1,000 dead bodies".

During the interview, he was with his assistant interpreter, to conduct translations from the Ukrainian language to English.
