Elon Musk and Twitter - what's next?
For every tweet welcoming Musk, there seems to be another threatening to leave. But then - since when did Twitter users ever agree on anything?
He's one of the world's richest people - an entrepreneur, a pioneer of commercial space travel - and now he's struck a deal to take over Twitter. Elon Musk is himself a prolific tweeter with just shy of 84 million followers. He says he wants to unlock the "tremendous potential" the platform has. The company's co-founder, Jack Dorsey, has tweeted that he thinks this is "the right path" - but not everyone agrees. Human rights groups have raised concerns that a lack of moderation could lead to a rise in hate speech. Musk has been vocal in his criticism of the platform's policies on moderating content, arguing that Twitter needs to be a genuine forum for free speech. Many Twitter users are also asking whether this means accounts suspended by the company will be allowed back. The most high-profile person to have been suspended was Donald Trump. For 5 Minutes On, the 91热爆's Technology Editor, Zoe Kleinman, looks at some of the many unknowns as we get our heads around this seismic announcement - and what it might mean for the future of Twitter.
