Tsai Ming-yen: Taiwan must prepare for worst
Taipei Representative to the EU and Belgium, Tsai Ming-yen, says Taiwan is at risk of a military attack from China.
鈥淲e need to prepare for the worst - we cannot predict when or how it will happen but what we can do is to prepare for the awful scenario in the best way possible,鈥 he said.
Speaking to Stephen Sackur from Brussels, Mr Tsai said he did not believe Beijing would launch an attack this year but said that Taipei needed to be prepared for conflict to start in the next five years.
He said the United States had reaffirmed its commitment to Taiwan since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The representative said support from other democratic societies would be important to how Taiwan weathers any attack.
