Friends walking 300 miles to support charities who've helped them
Bournemouth ballroom dancing champion Alexandra Hixson and her friend Louise Jones will be putting their best feet forward, walking 311 miles in just two weeks.
They're taking on the charity challenge in memory of Alex's mum Pam - who died from lung cancer in 2019 - and in honour of Louise's eight-year-old daughter Lana, who has juvenile arthritis and needs frequent injections for the pain.
The pair, who've known each other since childhood, are hoping to raise more than 拢5,000 for four charities that have supported their loved ones.
Walking 25 miles a day, they'll set off from the Blackpool Empress Ballroom on Mother's Day and will finish 14 days later at The Piccadilly Ballroom in Bournemouth on the anniversary of Pam's death. The pair have been speaking to our Dorset breakfast show presenter Steve Harris.
