Concerns raised as gambling firms spend 拢100,000 on hospitality for MPs
After the row over MPs鈥 second jobs, questions are now being raised about the hospitality some MPs receive and how this might be used to try to influence MPs.
Newsnight has found that since May, gambling and betting companies have spent nearly 拢100,000 on corporate hospitality for just 28 MPs.
This includes tickets to Ascot, Wimbledon and the Euros - and it鈥檚 all within the current rules.
Gambling spends more money in corporate hospitality than any other industry.
The Gambling Act of 2005 is currently being renewed in parliament and there are also concerns this type of lobbying will intensify.
The Betting and Gaming Council told Newsnight: 鈥淎ny hospitality is consistent with parliamentary rules and is fully declared and transparent.鈥
Policy editor Lewis Goodall reports.
