Millions more pupils in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are returning to school today. Chief Medical Officers are still considering whether teenagers should be vaccinated against coronavirus. The current advice is that only 12 to 15 year olds with certain health conditions should be offered the jab, but that could be widened.
Should a child be able to opt for vaccination without the consent of a parent? Justin Webb hears from Lucinda Ferguson, Associate Professor of Family Law at the University of Oxford, and Mishal Husain speaks to a double-jabbed mother, who is hesitant about letting her 13-year-old daughter have the vaccine, and a 14-year-old who says that she would want the jab even if her parents did not give their permission.
