Dr Albert Cairo talks to Mishal Husain about his work in Afghanistan
In 1990 an Italian physiotherapist arrived in Kabul to work at the Red Cross orthopaedic centre. Then - as now - the country was in a state of transition and insecurity - there were battles for control as the Russians were withdrawing. Dr Alberto Cairo is still there more than 30 years later - and he is not going anywhere - continuing to help land mine victims, amputees and others with mobility and prosthetic limbs. He spoke to Today’s Mishal Husain
