Mum's back in hospital facing an uncertain future
In this week's Dementia Diary son Andrew talks frankly about a very difficult week. Mum's in Hull Royal Infirmary after paramedics were called. She was found by carers covered in vomit and then fainted from, it's thought, pain caused by a gallstone passing into her bile duct. Treatment options are limited by her frailty - advanced dementia and heart problems (she has Alzheimer's and vascular dementia). She's now facing an uncertain future with little awareness of where she is or what's happening. The medical emergency came after a week in which Andrew and his brother had also dealt with a water leak in Mum's house. That led to the electricity and water being switched off. They'd also moved furniture around so her hospital style bed could be transferred downstairs. Mum and Me: The Dementia Diary was originally broadcast on 91热爆 Radio Leeds.
