UN on scale of Afghanistan's refugee challenge
"Where we have been discussing refugee movements has been the neighbouring countries...begging them to keep their borders open"
Evacuation of diplomats and civilians including Afghans has been resumed. Meanwhile EU leaders expressed concerns over a possible influx of Afghan refugees. Some countries have agreed to take in asylum seekers, like US, UK Canada, Uganda, Albania whereas countries like Australia have argued against it.
Newsday spoke to Filippo Grandi is UN High Commissioner for Refugees about the current movement of people inside and outside of the country.
