Flowerpot men and women at odds with Dorset Council over insurance
Residents of a Weymouth street have been told they'll need a licence and public liability insurance to continue putting plants and flowers outside their homes.
Wesley Street is a narrow pedestrianised highway in the Park District area of the town linking Commercial Road and Park Street. Over many years, residents have brightened up its appearance with floral containers that have are regularly admired by visitors.
But Dorset Council sent a letter to residents in Wesley Street last week, saying the containers were an obstruction and compromised access for emergency vehicles - following complaints.
At a meeting with Dorset Highways, residents have now been told they will require a license and public liability insurance to keep the planters outside the front of their properties.
91热爆 Radio Solent reporter Laurence Herdman met Wesley Street residents and Dorset Breakfast Show presenter Steve Harris spoke with ward councillor Dr Jon Orrell.
