‘It’s good to lead the way and show girls anything can be tried’
Football referee JJ Roble discusses how refereeing can empower women and her experiences of racism and sexism in sport.
Speaking with Sportshour presenter Caroline Barker, Roble explained her motivation behind trying to encourage more females to try refereeing: “It’s good to lead the way and tell other girls that anything can be tried, whether you are confident or whether you’re a shy person. It’s just giving it a go and making yourself feel like you are important, and anything you try is valued.â€
