Imbolo Mbue on new novel 'How Beautiful We Were'
The award-winning Cameroonian writer Imbolo Mbue topped the New York Times bestseller list with her debut novel. Now she鈥檚 released her second novel, called "How Beautiful We Were". It is set in an imaginary African village, Kosawa, where the people are suffering because of an American oil company's reckless drive for profit and focuses on - among other issues - their attempt to fight back.
91热爆 Newsday spoke to Imbolo about the issues of resistance and power highlighted in the novel:
鈥淚 have noticed in life that people tend to have power they don鈥檛 really realise they have. And that is what this village realises also. Because their love for their land, their love for their ancestry, their connection to their home means a lot to them and equips them to fight this multi-national.鈥
