The Auschwitz survivor who vowed to be happy
Eddie Jaku, who survived Auschwitz, has died at the age of 101.
Eddie Jaku, a Holocaust survivor who described himself as the "happiest man on earth", has died aged 101. During World War Two, he was imprisoned in four concentration camps, led a daring escape on a train, broke free from a death march and survived in a forest.
After surviving the horrors of those times, including the loss of his parents, Eddie Jaku vowed to enjoy his life and help others. Last year, he spoke to Martha Kearney on the Today programme and explained his positive attitude to life.
