When Afganistan had two presidents
Afghanistan's last election in September 2019 delivered not one but two presidents, when both Ashraf Ghani and his rival Abdullah Abdullah claimed victory and held rival inauguration ceremonies. In May 2020 however, the two men signed a power-sharing deal which saw Ashraf Ghani stay on as president, and Dr Abdullah head up peace talks with the Taliban. A similar situation occurred in Guinea Bissau, which also found itself with two presidents recently. 91热爆 Afghan's Dawood Azami and 91热爆 Africa's Peter Okwoche discuss this strange phenomenon.
