‘The Rule of Six will stay in place’
Michael Gove says the ‘Rule of Six’ remains but more restrictions will be announced
All pubs, bars, restaurants and other hospitality venues in England must have a 22:00 closing time from Thursday, to help curb the spread of coronavirus. The sector will also be restricted by law to table service only and people should also work from home "if they can". The Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove told Mishal Husain: "The 10pm closing time is not the only measure the Prime Minister will be announcing later….the evidence is that social mixing can encourage the spread of the virus." He went on to say that the ‘Rule of Six’ remains in place and that meant a group of six could leave a pub at 10pm to drink at home. With analysis from 91Èȱ¬ Political Editor Laura Kuenssberg.
