Makerere university fire is 'heart-rending'
An investigation is underway in Uganda to find the cause of the huge fire that destroyed parts of Makerere University in Kampala, one of the oldest and most prestigious on the continent.
There were no casualties but the blaze damaged one of the main administration building known as the Ivory Tower, that hosts the finance and records department. Dr Juliet Babirye was a student in Makarere, and works there now for medical research projects.
