The 'no red carpet' Emmy Awards
There was no red carpet and no physical audience for the three-hour show for the television industry. Instead producers had sent camera kits and microphones to all the Emmy nominees, who were able to choose how and where they wanted to be seen. It was also hoped this potentially more intimate setting might lead to better ratings after they reached a record low in 2019.
