'I am sorry for delays, for the uncertainty, the pain and anxiety young people will have faced'
Schools minister Nick Gibb apologises to young students getting exam results this year
Schools Minister Nick Gibb has apologised to the hundreds of thousands of young students getting exam results this year and said there will be an investigations into how the grading model was used in applying the grades. He told Martha Kearney: "I am sorry for delays, for the uncertainty, the pain and anxiety young people will have faced" and said inquiries would follow by the Education Select Committee and National Statistics authority into the problems in all four nations. He went on to say the problem was the way the model was applied: "The application of the model is a regulatory approach. The development of that emerged on Thursday when the algorithm was published. At that stage it became clear some results were being published on Thursday and Friday that were just not right."
