On the approach of his thirtieth birthday, Ernest finds himself alone and unemployed. He struggles through the symptoms of a cold in an attempt to get his life back on track only for his illness to get dramatically worse. Eventually, the severity of the cold builds to such a degree that Ernest sneezes his brains out. Unable to comprehend the horrific mess he has made, Ernest tries to ignore what has happened and continue his isolated lifestyle uninterrupted, but the effects of the sneeze force Ernest towards facing up to his problems for better or for worse.
