"My heart goes out to the Muslim communities"

Matt Hancock says new restrictions in parts of the north are not intended to curtail Eid

People living in Greater Manchester, East Lancashire and West Yorkshire are no longer allowed to meet up with those from other households in their home or garden, or in pubs, restaurants or shops. The health secretary Matt Hancock told Sarah Smith, 鈥淢y heart goes out to the Muslim communities in these areas because I know how important the Eid celebrations are.鈥 He went on to thank community leaders for their efforts to find safe ways to hold celebrations: 鈥"For instance celebrating Eid in parks where there's more space available and of course outdoors is safer than indoors."
