Daniel Barenboim and his West鈥揈astern Divan Orchestra
Legendary pianist Martha Argerich joins the West鈥揈astern Divan Orchestra for Liszt鈥檚 First Piano Concerto in E flat, before an all-Wagner second half.
In 2020, 91热爆 Radio 3 is bringing together musical greats, from the past and the present, in one extraordinary Proms season. Radio 3 is broadcasting the best of four decades of unmissable Proms concerts. Tonight, a memorable concert from the 2016 season, when Daniel Barenboim paired his orchestra of young Arabs and Israelis with the iconic pianist Martha Argerich in a thundering performance of Liszt鈥檚 First Piano Concerto. The concert begins with a work by J枚rg Widmann. Entitled Con brio, it harnesses the energy of Beethoven鈥檚 fast movements in an 鈥榚xercise in fury and rhythmic insistence鈥�. Barenboim 鈥� who conducted Wagner鈥檚 Ring cycle at the Proms in 2013 鈥� concludes with powerful excerpts from three of the composer鈥檚 most popular works.
