‘We are all going to have to look at the information that’s out there… and make decisions with our own sense of responsibility’
Brandon Lewis explains the rationale behind the latest changes to lockdown in England
Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis spoke to Nick Robinson ahead of the Prime Minister’s announcement that pubs, restaurants, hotels and hairdressers can reopen from 4 July in England, when social distancing rules will be eased. Under the new rules people should remain 2m apart where possible but a "one metre plus" rule will be introduced. Two households in England will also be able to meet indoors and stay overnight - with social distancing.
The 2m rule will remain in place in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
