Mark Carney says transitioning to a net zero economy can be part of economic recovery
The former Governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney told Martha Kearney that the COP 26 meeting in Glasgow remains “a high ambition COP” despite the decision to postpone it by a year to 2021. He also said that transitioning to a net zero economy could form a key part of the economic recovery following the lockdown. He was speaking to Martha following the broadcast of an essay by Pope Francis, outlining his hopes for a post pandemic society. The interview is part of the 91ȱ’s Rethink series – a unique collaboration between 91ȱ Radio 4, Radio 5 Live and the World Service. It asks how society and our lives can change for the better after the Covid-19 crisis.
