Drawing Helps Me See the World Again

A car crash led to Jo 'Sunshine' Adamson losing most of her vision and becoming homeless. Eight years later, she rediscovered art and draws vibrant, colourful images every day.

Jo ‘Sunshine’ Adamson loved drawing and sketching as a young woman, until a car crash left her with injuries that, for a while, meant she could no longer create art. Jo is visually impaired, having only a little vision left in one eye.

After the accident, her life as she knew it fell apart - she lost her job, then her home, and found herself begging on the streets. For eight years Jo didn’t draw, but then she moved into new accommodation and had a canvas big enough to see - the walls. Having rediscovered her love of art, Jo draws daily vibrant crayon images of the equally vibrant life she now leads.
