Femi Kuti was raised in the shadow of his father Fela, Nigeria’s most famous musician and a prominent anti-establishment voice. Living in Fela’s ‘Kalakuta Republic’ compound, Femi witnessed the state’s violent retribution against his father. Helen Oyibo met Femi at his New Afrika Shrine venue, to ask him about his upbringing.
