If you are man and own a cat, you are a man with a cat. If you are a woman with one, you are a crazy cat lady. Women’s relationship with cats dates back to ancient times but negative connotations began to emerge in the middle ages as cats became associated with witch-craft. Jenni Murray speaks to Alice Maddicott who was inspired to write a book about women and cats after falling for Dylan, a cat in her village who followed her home.
