Drug related deaths: rural communities revisited
In 2018, Scotland set the record for the highest rate of drug related deaths in the EU.
In the first six months of this year, police recorded 388 drug-related deaths, while a further 296 are being investigated.
If confirmed, this would bring the half-year total to 684 – that's higher than the same period last year.
Throughout 2019, our Social Affairs Correspondent Chris Clements has reported on the issue.
He has returned to Dumfries and Galloway, to tell the story of Teressa and Craig, one couple who fell into a cycle that's blighting the lives of more and more Scots every year.
