Can fungus be good for food crops?
Fungal attacks can be devastating for food crops. However, research by plant biologist Prof Katie Field on the evolutionary symbiotic relationship between soil fungus and plants suggests this kind of fungus may help farmers use fewer chemical fertilisers and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
