How safe is vaping?
10,000 people die every year in Scotland of smoking-related diseases. The biggest killer is cancer, followed by heart disease.
But the total number of smokers has fallen by 10% since 2003. It's coincided with a big rise in the number of people using e-cigarettes - almost a quarter of Scottish adults have tried them.
But is vaping safe? Recently, there have been reports of people who鈥檝e contracted serious and sometimes fatal illnesses which have been linked to vaping - it鈥檚 been banned completely in countries including India and Brazil.
Now, a report led by the University of Dundee and its authors found that e-cigarettes are less harmful than tobacco cigarettes. It also found switching to vaping significantly boosts heart health. The Nine鈥檚 Ben Philip reports.
