S1: Phoebe
Phoebe’s life has seen her move around a lot because of her family being part of the Military. Luckily for her she has a constant throughout all the change – her best friend Kat.
HEAR ME is a 91Èȱ¬ Young Reporter's podcast, which explores what identity means for young people growing up Britain today.
Phoebe’s story is about how the place doesn’t make home, but the people do.
In Phoebe’s life she has been to nine schools, moved to ten different houses, and has lived in three countries and eight different towns. This is because Phoebe’s Dad is in the Military and this means they have to move quite a lot.
Phoebe feels like she doesn’t really come from anywhere or belong anywhere. But luckily for Phoebe she has a constant to help her through all the change, her rock – her best friend. Despite moving further and further away each time, Phoebe and Kat have remained the closest of friends, and have a deep impact on each other’s life regardless of the distance between them.
