Dorset resident who went to school with children of Apollo 11 astronauts

The lunar landings struck a chord with millions of people. But for one Dorset resident, the landings were a little closer to home. Jane grew up in Houston, Texas at the time of the moon landings, sharing classes with the children of astronauts who were part of the Apollo missions.

Life in Houston quickly changed in the late '50s from ranches and oil fields to scientists who made the lunar landings possible. Although 1000 miles from the launch site, her school was opposite mission control, the control centre for all of the major moon missions.
