Strauss on 'deep guttural grief' after death of wife
Former England captain Andrew Strauss talks to the You, Me and the Big C team about coping with the death of his wife Ruth, who had a rare form of lung cancer.
He explains that his experience of grief is "completely different" to how he thought it was going to be, saying: "I thought I was going to be in bits for the first few weeks. But I was surprisingly functional to the point where I thought, ‘is there something wrong with me here?’
"But then it hits you, either for ten minutes or an hour, and it’s deep guttural grief that I’ve never experienced before in my life."
