Algerian leader resigns
Algeria鈥檚 President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has been in power for 20 years, has announced he has resigned with immediate effect, following weeks of rallies and demonstrations against his earlier decision to seek a fifth term. According to the constitution, the Senate Speaker should take over as the interim head of state until fresh elections are held. Meanwhile in the capital Algiers, many people took to the streets to celebrate news of the departure of the ailing leader. Rania, a young protester, spoke to 91热爆 Newsday.
