A new film tells the story of the Soviet ballet dancer’s defection to France
In 1961 during the Cold War, Soviet ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev defected to France - an event which shook the world. A new film directed by actor Ralph Fiennes - ‘The White Crow’ - tells the story of how he became a star while still in Russia. But when he travelled to Paris with the Kirov ballet, he decided to stay.
