The village made of missiles
The residents of the Afghan village of Qezelabad have taken recycling to a new level. It’s a small settlement on the outskirts of Mazar-e-Sharif in northern Afghanistan, and in 1979 when the Soviets invaded, they stored their ground-to-air missiles nearby. When they left 10 years later, those BM21 rockets were abandoned. So what to do with them? Shoaib Sharifi from 91Èȱ¬ Pashto visited the village to find out – and the answer was alarming.
