Pyper first learnt of cosplay at age 11 and, by 13, had attended her first comic convention. Now 17, she is a young carer for her mother, and spends much of her time not only looking after her mother鈥檚 needs but making sure bills are paid. Going to cosplay events in character allows her to 鈥渆scape from the constant expectations鈥� put onto her. She becomes Roadhog from Overwatch and, when she's in costume, she discovers the childhood she didn鈥檛 have.
