Strange Letters: Episode 5 - 'If only we could hear our dear old Ben was a prisoner' - 2nd Nov 1918
Ruth Strange was 23 and working in a French hospital at the end of World War One.
Her brother, Ben, a pilot, disappeared on 24th September 1918, having gone on a morning patrol.
His body has never been found.
Descendants of Ruth, who was born into a farming family in Tarrant Keyneston, in North Dorset, recently found letters she wrote to her parents, at the time of Ben's disappearance.
Breakfast in Dorset has been serialising the letters, voiced by her grand-daughter Rachel Wheeler, and introduced by Ruth's grandson, Jonathan Wheeler.
This letter was written by Ruth on 2nd November 1918.
